I've been using galvanic current now for nearly 3 months in a way that I had not been trained to use it in esthetics. Not many spa facials are incorporating the galvanic current into their treatments. This is because the money is driving the service and the longer they take to perform services, the more unaffordable it becomes to the client.
Galvanic current has two distinct purposes. When the charge is Positive the current acts with the oil in the skin to deep clean the pores. When the charge is Negative it pushes the treatment products deeper into the pores to increase its effectivity. But, when used one after the other, it regenerates the collagen/elastin layer, and results in tightening and lifting of the skin for a more youthful appearance. In a spa, this requires constant treatments at over $100 each.
There are numerous home devices now available. Most are weak current, inflexible, and have no products that are charged appropriately to bring the greatest results. There is one, though, and it's about to get even better than it is.
A new gel has been in development and testing now for 10 years and will be released to distributors in January 2009. Not only will the galvanic current delivered by the device continue to rejuvenate the skin, the gel being released will attach itself to the enzyme that protects the skin from aging. Used regularly, and the skin will age at a fraction of the speed it currently does.
This is a huge breakthrough, and I'm so delighted to say I'm going to be one of the priviledged distributors.

Marching Along with Time
I'm amazed at how much time has passed since I last posted. My mother has been in the hospital now for over two weeks, and my dad is helpless without her. The stress, and the time required to help them is substantial. It's also rewarding.

I'm working daily to get myself re-built, re-energized, re-focused. A recent family tragedy has interrupted the process for me, but it hasn't ended it. The challenges I deal with every single day are just being able to find my focus. This Tony Robbins moment is so enlightening, and can be empowering for those who dare to push through their fears.

Looking for Work after 50
Greatest challenge I've had to face. My first obstacle was believing this was going to be more difficult than the last time. The bosses keep getting younger, but that has never been a problem for me unless they weren't capable of doing their job, of course. It's those HR people who make this hard.
Most HR people I've encountered have been fresh out of college trained. Even if they have been working for 10 years, they have only been in the HR hiring position and don't show a true understanding for on the job skills. I've only been looking for temporary assignments this time, not even temp-to-hire, and my years are proving to be a serious detriment. My computer testing consistently yields 100% scores in all the MS Office programs and should open the door into any Executive Assistant position where the boss is high demand. But, not one door has shown itself. Imagine that, an Executive Assistant who can spell, write a coherent sentence, understands business, marketing, professionalism, and can accomplish the work of 3 people in a day. If she's over 50, few are willing to turn the desk outside their plush office over to her, though.
I have two good friends who are in their late 30's/earliest 40's. We often find ourselves applying for the same jobs. Neither one can type accurately, intuitively figure out new computer programs, polish the etiquette elements of a Board meeting, or head off potential problems by thinking ahead of them. Yet, both are beautiful to look at, and each has gotten at least one job over me. It took those shallow bosses about 3 months of working with them to literally grow to hate the sight of them before they got fired for an inability to accomplish the work they were hired to do. I'd bet you all saw that coming, though.
My skills and confidence have finally come full circle and I have decided this belief in my own talents, love for success, and strength in business protocols are far more suited to being in business for myself. Who can I possibly trust more than me to take care of me? My personal success lies in me doing what is most satisfying to me professionally.

Nothing wrong with getting older
I've honestly enjoyed growing up. What I have not enjoyed is watching the changes that keep surprising me in the mirror. At some point in my future, I know I will go for the "big fix" and get some plastic surgery, though not at a dramatic level. Looking good is only important to me at the level of saying, "looks good at her age".
For anyone who isn't caring for their skin, it's never too late to begin that process. Get your monthly facials, use SPA products at home, switch to mineral makeup, stop smoking, keep your drinking to what's good for the heart, be happy, meditate, eat right, believe the rumors of the value of the Omega 3's and 6's, exercise and do whatever makes you feel beautiful. I strongly recommend the use of a jade roller when your eye area gets puffy, and natural skin rejuvenation systems (tuning forks, jade roller, facial massage, accupressure) to minimize and delay the wrinkles and sags that send so many to the surgeons.

It is very exciting, but my passion remains in doing facials and teaching the care and maintenance of beautiful skin for my clients. Stay away from anything that "hurts" or forces the top layers of skin cells off to expose a younger looking, new layer of skin. Those procedures remove the wrinkles because they are injuring the skin, which causes swelling. The effects only last until the swelling goes down. Do those things regularly and you will develop scar tissue that will end up prematurely aging your skin.
